Bonnie Brasure is the owner of Bleu Door Bakery in Vancouver, Washington, where she and her team create and serve fresh baked goods and café favorites to a loyal community of guests every day. What began as a love of cooking has grown into one of uptown Vancouver’s most beloved bakery brunch spots.

Bonnie has always been at home in the kitchen. Over the years, that general love of cooking narrowed into a deep affection for pastries and baking, where precision, creativity, and care all meet on the plate. Turning that passion into a business was not just a career step for her, it was a leap of faith. She often comes back to a favorite quote that guided that decision: “Leap! The jump is so frightening between where I am and where I want to be… because of all I may become, I will keep my eyes open and leap!!”

That willingness to jump, even when the future is uncertain, is woven through the story of Bleu Door Bakery and how it continues to grow. Under her leadership, Bleu Door has become known for fresh, seasonal products, hearty and thoughtful brunch offerings, and a welcoming space where guests are truly seen and cared for. Some of the work that lights Bonnie up most happens behind the scenes: dreaming up menus, mentoring her team, and making sure each detail, from the pastry case to the dining room, reflects the care that goes into the food. She leads with warmth, high standards, and a deep commitment to both her staff and her guests.

Community is at the heart of Bonnie’s work. Bleu Door Bakery has been a gathering place in good times and a support system in hard ones. Bonnie has organized “shutdown meals” to feed neighbors during difficult periods, coordinated donations to the Clark County Food Bank, and used the bakery as a hub for collecting and distributing community support. For her, running a business is not just about serving food, it is about serving people.

When she is not at the bakery, Bonnie loves to spend time in her garden and unwind in the company of her puppy, Georgie, who happily soaks up any extra affection that comes his way.
